Julia Sophia Mixson,dau. of William and Julia Harris Mixson, was b. in Monroe County, Ga., Sept. 5, 1845, d. in Coffee County, AL., April 21, 1874. Married Dec. 2, 1844 to. William James Snellgrove - b. Dec. 2, 1844 in Coffee County, Alabama, d. Mar. 18, 1902, bur. at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Dale County, which was about two miles from the Snellgrove home across the boundary line between the two counties. Mr. Snellgrove was the son of William Riley Snellgrove, Sr., b. in GA Aug. 27, 1817, d. Apr. 29, 1901, and his wife, Ann Maria Sykes Snellgrove.  One Jesse Snellgrove participated in the 1827 Georgia Land Lottery, listed as a resident of Laurens County, Mizelles District, and drew lot in District 23, Muscogee County. One Jesse Snellgrove (probably the same), listed as a soldier, participated in the 1832 Cherokee Land Lottery of Georgia, drew a lot in District 4, Section 4, (Floyd County). His home was listed as Early County. The 1840 census of Georgia lists two Snellgrove families in Early County; Jesse Snellgrove and Wm. R. Snellgrove. Evidently the family is English, - one family by the name was granted a Coat of Arms in 1685. The 1790 census of South Carolina lists five families by this name, all very near to each other in north Orageburg District. Children of William James and Julia Sophia Mixson Snellgrove:
