Thomas G. Day, farmer, merchant and miller, Liverpool, LA This enterprising citizen was b. in St. Helena Parish in 1844, son of Harvey Day, a prominent planter and his wife, Nancy Parson Day. The paternal grandfather, William Day, came from North Carolina, Mr. Day selected Miss Nancy Mixon for his wife and their nuptials were celebrated Jan. 23, 1863. She was dau. of George and Betsy (Barksdale) Mixon, both natives of Mississippi. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Mixon:

Benjamin, Joseph, Susan (deceased), Martha A., and Nancy S. Mr. and Mrs. Day became the parents of three children:

Martha E, Day, married A. H. Womack, farmer, of St, Helena Parish, (They had three sons: Thomas G., Fred, and Joseph M. )

Mr. Day enlisted in the Confederate Army in 1862, under Capt. Wilson and Colonel Winfield, in Company "D" 3rd LA Inf. After the war he returned home to his farm of 900 acres, 300 acres of which is in cultivation. The article states further that Mr. Day was a Methodist, a Mason, and a democrat, and was highly respected by all who knew him.

Mar 24, 1918.  Both Benjamin and Martha bur. Highland Park Cemetery, Kirksville, Adair County, MO. Benjamin was a prisoner of war at the close of the hostilities, and impressed into the Federal Army and fought against the Indians. After his final discharge he studied medicine and was for many years an outstanding physician for his time and community.
