"G", 33rd AR Inf. In 1844, he m. in Darlington County, SC, Sarah J. Herron ( a granddau. of Newett Delk, who mentioned her in his will dated Mar. 1, 1850, filed May 5, 1857). She was b. Dec.9, 1824.

Nehum Mixon, s. of William and Christenah Mixon, was b. in Darlington District, SC ca. 1804, d. Dec 12, 1837 in Texas. On Jan. 8, 1826 he m. Sarah Coffey in Montgomery County, AL, but settled in Marengo County, AL, where they are shown in the 1830 census. He received two land grants in 1831 totaling154 acres, located in Wilcox County. The time of their migration to Texas is unknown, but he was given a land grant there in 1862, and another (to his heirs) April 4, 1872. (The 1830 census of Wilcox County, AL, showed the couple with one daughter under age 5).

Note: Noel Mixon, age 57, and Sarah Mixon, age 55, are shown in Harris County, Texas census of 1850.
