Robert Fulton Mixson, s. of Abraham Mixson and his wife, was b. Dec 27, 1770, d. Sep. 25, 1848  (according to family history, in SC, d. in Beaufort District, SC before 1850. He is listed in the 1800 census with wife and three daughters under the age of 10. . His descendants say he had twenty five children and all but one were sons. But from census records there were several daughters. The 1800 census of Beaufort District lists him with his wife and three daughters under age 10 (and no sons).

He had married three times, his first wife was. His first wife was Dorothy Ellis to whom he made deeds of gift in 1829 to three tracts of land, 585 acres,250 acres, and 900 acres. (Two of the tracts were land grants) and to some slaves. One of the grants described the lands as being on McPhersons Branch on the Salkahatchee River.

Name of his second wife is unclear, Ancestry.com and U.S. and International Marriage Records, 1560-1900 lists as being Dorothy (Dorothea) Nancy Gatch, b. 1785, d. 1840 in Prince Williams Parish, Beaufort County, SC, m. 1816, with children Michael, James, John, Edward, Margaret and Elizabeth Emma.

His third wife was Catherine Polaski, who applied for his pension due him for services in the War of 1812. She is listed in the 1860 census, age 51.

Mrs. Virginia L. Brock (#4808) has submitted her ancestral lines back to Robert Mixson, which she has authenticated by Bible records and family history, as follows:

§5507 Charity Mixson (oldest child) was b. in Beaufort District, SC 1790, d. after 1850, married Absolum Green Tuten, b. about 1785 d. after 1830.
