From Johny Cooper, greatgrandson of Sara:

Henry Gilbert Mixson spent most of his life in Pocataligo, Hampton County, SC.  He was for many years the lone security guard for the railroad station in Yemassee (in those days a major RR station).  He shot and killed 11 men in the course of his job.  His wife shot a cougar/mountain lion from the back porch of their home.  My ggrandmother (Julia Mixson) is shown on 1920 Census back at home with him with her two small sons prior to her divorce.  She met her her second husband while sitting in the sunshine on her father's front steps drying her hair one morning.

Julia was born in Hampton County, SC but was raised in Savannah, GA.  She married her first husband, Frank Seabrook Mckenzie, on 09/20/2012.  He was convicted of manslaughter for killing two men that had slapped his father around.  Julia divorced him after he was sentenced to twenty years and married Lee McCleod in 1924.  Lee McCleod was the largest private landowner in America in those days.  Julia spent her life as a very wealthy woman.  Though hugely wealthy, she enjoyed fishing from the riverbanks and would go daily.  I remember her flipping snakes off of the dykes as we would walk to her favorite spots.  She always kept sugar cane in her trunk to chew on while fishing.  She and Lee McCleod had two daughters, Helen and Dorothy who are still living.  These two daughters inherited the total estate of their father (@700 million dollars in the 1960's)

My ggrandfather and Julia had three sons:Frank Seabrook Mckenzie, Jr., Alex Mckenzie, and my grandfather Arthur Lee Mckenzie.  Alex died as a young boy when he fell from a tree. My grandfather had two daughters and three sons. I am the son of his first child, Joyce Wilma Mckenzie.  Julia's two surviving sons from her first marriage were never included in in the family fortune and led hard lives.the family fortune and led hard lives
