Robert Russell Mixon, business man, banker, son of Alex and Betty Henley Mixon, was b. in Montgomery County, TN, Jun. 24, 1895, d. Sep. 6, 1986, m. Rebah Caphira Key, b. Apr. 4, 1901, d. Apr. 4, 1987, both bur. Smith County Memorial Gardens, Carthage, TN. He had m. by 1933 and he and wife have no children. Their home is at Carthage, Smith County, where he is partner in the Mixon-Nollner Oil Company, also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Smith County Bank of Carthage.

Mr. Mixon did not know the name of his great-grandfather, but it was his understanding that his people came to Tennessee from Virginia or North Carolina just before or right after the Civil War.

He was a planter and a Confederate soldier, member of Company "B" 14th TN Inf. The records show him present on all rolls except when absent because of sickness. He signed the oath of allegiance, Jun 30, 1865 and was given transportation home to Clarksville. Both bur. Davis Cemetery, Montgomery County, TN.

William Mixon - b. ca. 1791, moved from Lexington District, SC to Ramah District, Wilkinson County, GA, before 1840. He and family are shown in the 1840 census of Wilkinson County, at which time he and wife had2 sons under age 5, 1 son age 5-10,2 daughters under 10,2 daughters 10-15. On Nov. 3, 1846, he sold a small tract of land in Lexington District, in the forks of the Edisto River to Winnie Brogden. From description made in the original grant of the lands referred to it was located about two miles from present town of Wagener, SC The 1820 census of Lexington District lists William Mixon and his wife with two small sons. Following is a list of their known children, but there must have been older ones already gone from home before 1830
