Matilda Jane Snellgrove, dau. of William J. and Julia Sophia Mixson Snellgrove, was b. in Coffee County, Alabama, May 20, 1872, d. August 30, 1938 at Ham Ridge, Dale County, Alabama. On July 3, 1890 she m. Jeff Columbus Head, farmer - b. Jan. 21, 1868, d. April 7, 1920 at Haw Ridge, Dale County, Alabama. The family was Baptist, both he and wife were bur. at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Head was the son of Thomas W. Head (b. Sept. 30, 1824, d. Nov. 10, 1872) and his wife, Mary Sophia Head, (b. ____, d, Mar. 18, 1879).  Both bur. Ebenezer Cemetery, Dale County, AL.
