Educated at thed allas College of the SMU, he became interested in dealing in real estate and developing same, and now owns extensive commercial properties, including one entire shopping center in Dallas. In January 1928, he, m. at Poynor, Texas, Maude Lela Williams - b. Jan. 11, 1908, d. Jun 18, 1995, dau. of Mark E. and May Ellison Williams. She is a graduate of a local business college. Mr. Mixon is a 32 degree Mason and a Shriner, and he and his wife are Baptist.

(In a letter received by the editor from Mr. George Franklin Mixon, Jr., in July 1970, he said they knew very little about his great-grandparents other than that his great-grandfather was born in Ireland, was a soldier in the Confederate Army and died of wounds received in 1864, a short time after the birth of his grandfather, William Washington Mixon. He presumed there were some brothers and sisters in the family and he hoped some information might be found on them).
