It was quite a climb down but in the end it was great to cool off under
the falls.
The story about the name of the falls is that a
prospector had his crew lower him over the edge as there was no other
way down but he fell to this death into the to pool at the bottom of the
falls. They didn't want to risk going down after him so the left
to come back several months later. Being miners they carved
and tunneled the path down the side, the path we took down. When
the got down they found Mooney mummified by being being completly encased by the
travertine
that the water coats everything it flows over. They burried him at an unknown place down stream .
