Robin
Robin was a wonderful, beautiful person. Yes she was attractive,
but she was beautiful in many other ways. She always seem happy, glowing, she
was concerned about others, she was caring, she was an optimist, she was fun,
she was a joy to be around. I was always in love with Robin but could never
tell her so for Robin had a boyfriend, Robert. Seemly fitting for Robin it was
not just a boyfriend, they were childhood sweethearts, they grew up together,
they went steady in high school, and they both came to the University together
and later married. They had the type of love you dream about, something like
out of a storybook. I became friends with Robert also and often did things with
the two of them, having dinner with them and spending time at their place. Interesting
enough is that Robin and Robert were from Indialantic Florida, which was where
I moved to in 1976 (see story).
Robin and My Cat Kathleen
It was Robin that got me my cat Kathleen (see
story).
Robin and Dance
Robin also got me interested
in dance. I had been taking karate for about two years when I advanced to where
you started sparing with other people. The first year was more practicing punches,
kicks and various movements and did do some practice blocks but you didn't really
hit anyone. When I advanced to green belt we started doing real punches and
blocks. Well I didn't like getting hit so I quit. A few weeks later I was talking
to Robin and told her about quitting karate and how I missed it but didn't like
being hit. Robin took modern dance classes and suggested that I might try it.
Well I thought it sounded a bit crazy but I signed up for a modern dance class
that was being taught at the local community college. Well I really grew to
like it and a couple of years later was taking modern dance, some jazz and some
ballet classes three and four nights a week.

Visit Me
After I moved to Indialantic and then Melbourne I would
only occasionally see Robin when I went back to Gainesville. Robert entered
medical school so they continued to live there for several more years. One day
I was most surprised when while at my home on Easy Street in Melbourne when
there was knock on the door, I opened it and there was Robin, Robert and Lee.
They all had come home for the weekend (Robin and Robert were from Indialantic)
and they decided to come by and see me. Lee worked with Robin and I at CIRCA
and he had come with them from Gainesville. They stayed for a couple of hours
and I hugged them all goodbye when the left. It was really good to see them.
The Last Time I Saw Robin
Robin and Kevin ended up getting
married and although I was invited, I could not go to their wedding. I couldn't
go for they were not only married on my birthday but it was the same day Brenda,
my sister, got married and of course I went to Brenda's wedding. I did see Robin
and Robert once several years later. As I often did I went to Pete's Ocean Grill
for lunch which was at the end of the main street in Indialantic right on the
beach. I was sitting alone at a table by the window looking out at the ocean
when a whole group of people came in which I didn't pay much attention to. Soon
after they all got seated I hear, "Larry", I turned around and it was Robin.
Robin, Robert and their new baby were home visiting their families, they, Robin,
Robert and Robin's family all came to lunch at Pete's. We talked briefly for
a few moments and she went back to her table and I to mine.
