Morris and Flamingo
Morris at Roadside Stand

The Juniors returned early to their home in Florida arriving the second week of August.  School would not start until the end of August, so Barbara worked at her father's roadside stan which was in the small community of Ocklawaha on Highway 25 on the north shore of Lake Weir.  Their house was behind the roadside stand with Lake Weir in their back yard.

Even though her father, Fred Junior, was a Baptist minister, he always had some sort of business, from which he would use the money he earned for his mission work.  Fred started the chenille business while studying to become a minister at the Atlanta Bible Institute.  While in Atlanta he used the money from his business to buy two old buildings on Prior Street which he started a mission and shelter for the homeless.

Fred brought the Chenille business with him to Florida which he expanded adding seashells, citrus fruit and lawn ornaments including one popular in Florida, pink flamingos.  Again he used the money he earned to start the Youth For Christ Mission in Ocala.
