Barbara said in her
memoirs that
Morris would sometimes have dinner with them on Friday night and
then spend the night sleeping on the couch so he wouldn't have
to drive all the way home and then back again on Saturday.
He mother didn't like it.

I just got home from school, so will answer you sweet letter. I
couldn’t write last night as I had to study for a 6 weeks exam in
Am. History. Boy, was it hard! I studied the wrong thing after
all, so I probably made bad on it. And today in my study halls we
had to practice our play that we’re giving a week from Tues. night.
Mom is out at the W.M.U. meeting now. She ought to be home
anytime. I have to go to play practice again tonight. Darling, I
really was surprised to get that letter, cause I really didn’t think
that you would write.
And darling I’m sorry but I don’t think that you ougt to spend Sat.
night up here. Cause mom is “sick” and mean as old Harry! She has
been after us kids for the past 2 days, for one thing or another. I
hope you understand. Darling I still love you, and I’ll see you
Sat. night at 7 o’clock. told you I would write, didn’t believe me did you. I am in study
hall
Love you always
Barbara
P.S.
A girl in my class is getting married Sat. She went and got her
rings and the license today. Wish it was us, don’t you?
