Notes:

  • The Weirsdale Carnival came once a year.

  • The kids would have been Corky and her younger sisters Dixie and Carol.

  • Bart is her uncle, her mother's brother.

  •  At that time you would pick up the phone and the operator would ask what number and you would say "413 Green" and the operator would connect you.  Our number in Gainesville when I grew up was "Franklin 1545".  Dad had had that phone number until he died in 2020 although they added more numbers so it became 352-372-1455.  I doubt that Morris ever called because he didn't have a phone at home and it would have been long distance from work.

Tues noon

Dearest darling,

I just happened to remember about the Weirsdale carnival being Friday nite.  Could you come up Fri. nite instead of Thurs?  I promised the kids we would take them if they are real good all this week while dad & mom are gone.  (It’s been working too – if one get naughty all I say, “Do you want to got to the carnival.” And they just start to act good then.)

Darling, Bart is waiting on this ‘cause he’s going to town to town to mail it.  So I’ll make it short.  I’ll have dinner ready at 6 ‘P.M. Fri. nite instead of Thurs.  If  it isn’t O.K. you can call me -413 Green is our number.

Everything has been going O.K. so far.

Bye now and remember I love you.

All my love & kisses for the
rest of my life.
Your almost wife,
Barbara

P.S.

You can spend Fri. nite here!  Do you love me? Corky said to tell you “hello.”  After I finish The dishes, I’m going to take a nap.  I didn’t Yesterday as I did all mine, Corky’s, and Gary’s ironing.  I cleaned the whole house with the vacumn cleaner this morning.
           By now darling,
                         Barbara
