Vacation in Austria

Thursday, May 14

After breakfast we decided to go look at Brenda and Tom’s lot where they are supposed to start building their new home and to see how the house right next door is doing. Tom is in constant contact with the builder in Innsbruck. There is a delay in starting due to building codes out where they are going to build. Monday May 25 we’ll be in Innsbruck to look at the final plans. Their lot is about 20 minutes away on the outskirts of Linz – in the country but yet in a small community – there are perhaps 25 houses close together. It’s a narrow (about 75 ft wide and 150 ft deep) lot.  It has a beautiful, clear running creek on the back of the lot, and on the other side of the creek a steep wooded hill which the boys will love when they get older.

After we left there we drove around another section of Linz, high up on the hills.  There we found the oldest church building in all of Austria, 499! You got to look in through iron gates at the front. Then we walked about 2 blocks to another old castle right on the Blue Danube River. We walked around the grounds and came upon an outdoor café where we decided to eat lunch. It was beautiful, looking down on the river, high up on the hill. The wind was blowing and it was rather cool but we enjoyed it. Got back to the apartment and after taking Kristopher to Kindergarden, Morris, Jeremy, Brenda and I all took a nap. After supper Morris, Kristopher and I took a long walk down towards town. After the boys were all asleep we played “Uno” and only the second time Brenda and I won!
