Subject: What's Up
I've totally lost track of anything we might have been talking about.
How did you "get through" Thanksgiving? Mine was very quiet.
I didn't even go out with my friend, which we usually do. I just
wasn't in the mood for it.
Also, I was very turned off by the "shopping promotions" urging people
to get out at 6:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day and the next Friday. People
certainly did it as the paper ran a picture of people lined up at a toy
store at 6:00 a.m. My apartment is "just off" the main boulevard, about
a mile, and to go almost anywhere I have to "do the boulevard."
That was enough to keep me from going out at all, because of the
traffic. I did go out for a biscuit on Sat., because McDonalds is
right up the street, and can be reached by a side road. I also
went to the movies that evening, but took the interstate through town.
I sort of watched, and taped as well, the X-files marathon which ran
Thanksgiving Day, but I studied the whole time, sort of half watching,
as I had seen every show--some twice. Otherwise I made a point of
walking every day, or sometimes twice a day. I did not want to
come back from the time off having gained weight. I realized
leaving work Wednesday that I didn't have milk and dreaded having to
face the grocery stores, but then remembered I had a couple of cups
frozen, so I skipped the trip altogether. A lot of what I did was
study Tax Law. The apt. complex was pretty deserted, so all in all
it was peaceful. One morning, after sitting up late, I actually
slept until 10 a.m., which is totally unusual for me.
