A Christian and a Gentleman, many of his closest friends said of him at the time of his death, "It is safe to say Billy Mixson was the best man in Coffee County."

On Sep 25, 1892, he was married to Carol Fuller - b. Jun 22, 1876, d. May 9, 1951, bur. Old Tabernacle Cemetery, New Brockton, AL. She was the dau. of Robert A. and Walker P. Danielly Fuller.
