Rev. John L. Mixon, adopted son of Haynes Volmer Mixon, son of his mother by a previous marriage, asked that his name be changed to Mixon from Sherrer.

Mrs. Rosalie W. Mixon - b. in Maysville; Mo., A.B. degree from Park College, majored in community research at Chicago Theological Seminary, received master's degree in social work from University of Southern California. For a number of years was senior psychiatric social worker at Pomona, CA Later became chief psychiatric social worker for Tri-City Mental Health Authority in Pomona.

 

The Rev. John L. Mixon is professor of church in the community at the school of theology (United Methodist) in Claremont, CA Born in St. Louis, he received A. B. degree from U. of Chicago - B.D. from Chicago Theological Seminary, and M. A. in social work from school of social service administration from U. of Chicago. Was formerly a minister of Church of All Nations in Los Angeles.

 

The Mixons are members of the National Association of Social Workers, the Academy of Certified Social Workers, and the Religious Research Fellowship.

 

In 1966 and 1967 they went to Iran as a husband and wife team as social work lecturers and consultants under a Fulbright grant.

 

In 1968 they volunteered their services for the Board of Missions to make the pilot study of Lima, Peru - - the first of twelve cities in twelve countries to be emphasized in the United Methodist Church.
