Note: In February of 1909 E.C. Osteen was found dead from poison.  Upon investigation it was learned that T. E. Mixson had giving Osteen whiskey which was wood alcohol which the two parties “had been on a spree together.”  T.E. Mixson also died from the spree.  At the time T.E. Mixson was the sole witness in the Bexley-Osteen case which was to come to trial the following month. (The Gainesville Daily Sun, Feb 25, 1909)  The death was confirmed by his brother Neadom Mixson who further stated that his brother was giving the whiskey by Osteen who had been given it by another party. (Ocala Evening Star, March 1, 1909)
