He was a physician and educator B.X., The Citadel, 1938, M.D. Medical College of State of SC, Charleston, 1942. With The U.S. Army in World War II, 1943-46, and with Medical Corps, Jun 1954 to July, 1960, resigning as Lt. Col. Dr Mixon is as specialist in Anesthesiology, a member of the International Anesthesia Research Society, and a member of the American Medical Assn. He is chief of the Anesthesia Department of the Veteran's Hospital at Nashville and an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology of VanderbiIt School of Medicine at Nashville. He was at Early Branch, SC, educated in the public schools of Hampton County and Spartanburg Academy at Gross, SC, graduated at Furman with an A.B. Degree, pursued graduated studies at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary at Louisville, KY, where he obtained a Master's Degree and a Ph. D in 1932 was an educator and college president.

Degree from Winthrop College. 1928, and has a Master's Degree in Religious Education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, 1932. She has since taken additional graduate studies at New York University, Union Theological Seminary in New York City, and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel. Since 1951, she has been chairman of the Department of Religion of Chowan College.
