Sarah Mixon, dau. of William J. and Rebecca Slade Mixon, was b. Dec 19, 1838, at Monroe in Perry County, MS, d. Jan 20, 1901, and is buried in the Gillis, New Augusta, Perry County, MS cemetery on the Gillis property, m. about 1857 to Pleasant Tisdale Gillis, b. Jul. 16, 1833, d. Apr. 16, 1909, bur. Miller Cemetery, Starksm Calcasieu Parish, LA. son of Malcolm and Caroline Tisdale Gillis.
Pleasant T. Gillis was a private in Stockdale's Battalion Cavalry Mississippi. He was enlisted January 19, 1862, by 1st Lt. Jno. G. Devereaux. He did not return from the war, but moved to Louisiana and reared a family there.
Sarah Mixon Gillis
lived with her sister, Mary Mixon Stevens, for some time. She
homesteaded land September 1, 1900: N½ NE¼ & NE; NW; Sec. ____ T N R11W
120.09 acres. Malcolm, her son, built a lovely home on this land which
is still standing. He also ran a neighborhood store.

Rachel Mixon, dau. of John J. and Rebecca Slade Mixon, was born March 22, 1852, Perry County, MS, d. March 1, 1923. She m. in 1870, Alpheus Moses Draughn, b. May 15, 1847, d. Jun 13, 1924 at Stateline, Mississippi, and is buried beside his wife at Providence Baptist Cemetery, Hattiesburg, Forrest County, MS, s. of Rufus Tisdale and Sabra Ann Davis Draughn. He served with Company 'E E" 3rd Batt Miss Cab. CSA. His headstone is a confederate marker.

1886 - Homesteaded 160.13 acres of land in Perry County March 22, 1882, which was patented October 27, 1886.
