SSarah Elizabeth (Betty) Mixon lived with Sarah Stevens Courtney for a while. They would make hand loomed bedspreads. She, m. A. D. Gilbert. They lived out North Main Street toward. Glendale. Maude Courtney lived with them and went to school. Mr. Elbert Courtney said Mr. Gilbert was a Federal soldier, and vowed his daughter would not marry a southerner. Lena Gilbert did marry Pete Ellison, a painter, and lived in Gulfport.
