"In October of 1969, when Brother Mixson attended the Supreme Council session, he could look back at a lifetime of benefit to his fellow man. He looked forward, also, to a continued service when suddenly he lost the center vision of both eyes. Virtual blindness seemed the reward for his dedication. n despair Brother Mixson sought relief in prayer. Soon a new, spiritual light began. He realized that his misfortune was slight when compared to his many benefits. From depression and anguish come a new vision of truth which stirred Brother Mixson to write a poem reaffirming his faith in God and men. One stanza of this poem eloquently expresses his gratitude for his second "Blessed Sight."

"The sudden loss of vision,

all will decry,

Still life is worth living,

none will deny.

With this loss of sight,

I'm beginning to see

The many things that Our. Lord

expects of me. "
