James Mixon, s. of Micah and Mary McClendon Mixon was b. in S.C., probably near Bishopville, Sumter County (now Lee County), ca. 1815, was with his parents in Barbour County, Alabama, before 1840 and shown there in that census. On Jan. 9, 1842, he was granted marriage license in Barbour County to marry Nancy Jourdan. The family was in Alabama in 1850, but not yet found, however, in 1860 they, were in Jasper County, Mississippi, his age was 44, Nancy 32. Their five oldest children were born in AL, the last five were born in Miss. (shown by census and family records). The family is shown in Columbia County, Ark., in 1880. It is thought that James died about 1895 and his wife, Nancy, died about 1903, both uried in Atlanta, AR, cemetery.
