Aaron Malachi Mixon, Jr., s. of Dr. Aaron M. and Claudia Lee Kersh Mixon, was b. at Spiro, OK, May 3, 1910, d. July 26, 1971 from cancer.. On Aug. 27, 1939, he m. Martha Ellen Rowland - b. June 20, 1913, d. Feb. 8, 1996,. She was the dau. of Harvey Steele and Grace Jones Rowland of Hempstead County, Ark. The wedding was held at Poteau, OK.  Both bur. Spiro City Cemetery, Spiro, OK.  Their children:

In acknowledgment of a letter of sympathy written her by J.L. Mixson, i.e. her reply:

"Dear Mr. Mixson:

Thank you kindly for your letter of sympathy. Yes, Aaron looked forward to meeting you and of attending a Texas reunion. He thoroughly enjoyed getting some first hand reports on the last reunion.

“Aaron died of cancer of the pancreas, a painful, long illness. His strength of character did not fail him. He was fully aware of his condition following exploratory surgery, March 9, and immediately began getting his affairs in good order to protect me. "He was an intellectual, a perfectionist and a strong influence, - a rare breed."

In a letter written by Aaron in 1970, he stated that he had just celebrated his 60th birthday and had completed 35 years service as a salesman for Wilson & Company, meat packers, and was looking forward to retirement in another five years.

During the 1930's he served 19 months with the U.S. Army, and during World War II, he served almost four years with the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer.
