Tom sings with a group of Christians from different churches and today they are singing in the Methodist Church (there are also Mammonites, Salvation Army).
So Brenda, Morris , the boys and I all walk to the church (about 5 blocks). People were out all over walking and it felt very funny walking and pushing a baby carriage to church. Their church really surprised me, it was really very nice inside. The outside looks old and is painted a very ugly 2 tone of green and just straight up block building facing the street side. But you go in down by the side of the building and facing a courtyard is the wide steps and big doors just like a church. There were about 60 people there, all very friendly, and 2 couples (one family who have 4 children and are Gospel Ministries Missionaries (the Mayers) are self supported and have no church of their faith.) spoke English so we did get to talk. Their pastor greeted us in the service and we stood up when he introduced us of course it was all in German and I got kind of tired listening to the sermon so I read the book of James. Interesting thing they have no nursery for babies, all 3 year olds and up go to children’s church after 15 minutes, but the mothers take the babies and those under three and go up to the balcony and you should hear the noise that goes on – but no one seem to mind. He just kept on preaching throughout all the racket! Note: no wonder the preacher doesn’t mind, one is his only granddaughter! Oh, the other family that spoke English were from Romania.
We got home from church at 11:30. Church is from 9:45 – 10:45 and we talked a good half hour after church.
We had a quick lunch of grilled cheese sandwiches, packed up and went on our way for a 3 ½ day vacation.
It rained on us some but not too bad. We arrived at Innsbruck, about 4:15. Found a parking place right downtown (after Tom drove around the town showing us all the sights) and took a walking tour of the old downtown section. There were quite a few tour buses so there were lots and lots of people there. Found us a restaurant right downtown and ate supper. Very good meal – the menu was in 3 languages so we knew what we were getting!
Car parked at the guest house.
Its light here until after 9 pm so we drove around some more looking for a “gasthaus” which is much cheaper than a hotel and we found that we love them. We drove right above where they had the “ski winter Olympics” in 1976. We continued to climb high up until we reached a little village high above the city were we found a clean, really nice “gasthaus”. And the view from window was stupendous! Tall, great big snow covered mountains right there at us. Just beautiful! Tom took several pictures, hope they turn out good. On one interesting thing about this, the W-C (toilets) are not in the bedrooms, but down the hall, so that means I have to go out and down the hall when I get up at night! Oh, all the bedrooms have a couch that opens into a bed so Kristopher and Jeremy slept right in Brenda and Tom’s room. We took a carrying bed for Andrew that fits real nice in the back of the station wagon so we didn’t have to hold him all day.
