We left Alachua, FL from Hardies Restaurant at 6:30 AM.
We met Monroe & Zella Mae there and they followed us up.  Had a really nice heavy rain yesterday afternoon so we felt good about leaving.

September 1 – 11, 1999 -Trip to Michigan

Friday Sept 1, 2000
Left Friday Sept 1, 2000 at 6:55 AM from Ft. Tatham Campground.  Cool & rainy.  We left Sparky with Dixie (who is here at Ft. Tatham for a week) and then Zella Mae will take care of him til we get back.  We are going up to Wayland, Michigan for the Schwander Reunion & sue & Jim are driving up I their motor home and Gary, Cork & Joshua are flying up.  Stopped at Cracker Barrell in Pidgeon Forge for breakfast.  Went 557 miles today.  Stayed at Leer Inn, Columbia City, IN.  Got here about 6 pm – drove 12 hrs today. 

Sat. Sep 2 Left hotel at 8 AM.
Arrived at Aunt Betty’s at 11 AM.
After talking to her for about an hour, we went to Susie’s where Bob was waiting for us.  Talked to him about an hour (Susie was shopping and Ellie was out at Sandy Pines) and then left to go to Sandy Pines. Jack, Jeri, Amy, Chad & Kristy came out & we had a hot dog roast and a campfire.  We spent Fri. & Sat. nights at Bob & Ellie then the rest of the time at Jack & Jerri’s trailer (really nice)

 Sunday (3) B. M & me went to Bunker Hill Restaurant for breakfast to give Ellie a little free time.  In the afternoon we too a ride, stopped to see Fred, Helen, Gordy & Penny.  Ate Lunch at a rest at Gun Lake.
Stopped to visit Dick & Sandy at their new home on Gun Lake.  Played “Sequence” again tonight.
 
Monday (4) – Labor Day, thousands of people were here at S P for the long weekend.  Jac & Jerri & Ellie had everyone over for a steak cook out at their trailer.
Played “Sequence” tonight until 11:30 PM

Wed. (6) M & I drove over to Allegan saw Bruce Hoyer, (Dicks & Shirley son) who is chief of Police at Allegan.  I fixed supper for B. & E. & us, as E was having bad stomach pains.  Sat around the campfire.
 
Fri. (8) I went to B. Shop then over to Susie & Bills to wait for Sue & Jim.  Got there about 1 pm – fixed
tuna salad in ripe tomatoes from Susi’s garden.  Gary Cork & Joshua go there about 2 pm – Talked for a long time then went to Sandy Pines. Had Pizza & B cake for Susie’s 40th Birthday.
 
SAT: (9) Sue went to B. Shop
then she & I did some
wash & dry.  At 6 PM 24
of us went to Gun Lake
eat out.
 
Sun. (10) Heavy rain – dark –
Overcast skyes – Fam Reunion
at noon – moved to VFW.
86 present – Pig roast

   TWIN TOWERS, N.Y. hit by Terrorists. Over 3000 died* – Worst Tragedy in American History.  We were sitting in Jack’s trailer & watching TV and saw it all happen on TV – Shocked & unbeliable! Took weeks to clean it all up & count & find the dead.
