(Left Ft. Tatham) to go see Larry (in Reston, VA) Rt 40 to Rt. 81

  (Lots of trucks) Lots of fog til now.  My knees are legs beginning to hurt already
   237 miles at 11:15 am – stopped for lunch at Cracker Barrel

Arrived Reston Va. 4:45 Thru. Sept 25
Fri. went to see Sally & Sophia in Fredricksburg, Va.  She treated us to lunch. (Michael was out of town)

Sat. Went to Arlington to pick up Anne (she showed us her condo)
All of us went into Washington D.C. Spent about 2 hours walking around and I just couldn’t go any more!
 
Larry treated us to lunch at the beautiful (what used to be the old train station) restaurant at the old train station.  Had sandwiches & chips for supper.  Watched TV & just talked a lot.

Sunday – Sept late & we took Larry out for lunch.  Larry had 2 yoga classes to  teach this evening.

 Mon. got up & left the same time Larry left for work.  Could not get on Skyland Drive at Front Royal as the crews were cleaning up the parkway from the damage Hurricane Isabel had done last week.  Finally go on the Parkway at Waynesboro, VA.  Spent the night at Fancy Gap, got up, had breakfast at the restaurant at Doughton Park.  Got back to Ft. Tatham at 3:30 pm.
 
   Had a wonder trip.  Larry was a very good host and it was nice to see where he lives and what he does.  He built a very very nice TV center (entertainment center) It was so good that one would think it was store bought.  He also built his bed (very very nice)
  In all it was a good trip.

Monday morning Sept. 29, 2003
Left Larrys 7:45 AM
53 miles to Front Royal, VA
1 hr from Larry to F.R.
Took Parkway back to N.C
 Ate breakfast at Front Royal.
Shenandoah (Skyland) Parkway Closed for clean-up from hurricane Isabel.  Had to take 341 to Blue Ridge Parkway.  Sorry, I really wanted to see this part of the parkway.  143 miles to Waynesboro, VA where we got on the Blue Ridge Parkway (11:35 AM)
 
3:15 PM its 56° on Parkway
Spent the night at Fancy Gap (on the parkway mile post 200) 39° this morning.  Slept real good – had a king size bed! Sunny out! Beautiful. Left at 7:50 AM – 8:09 three beautiful dear in the middle of the road

  Stopped for Breakfast at Doughton Park (240 mile marker)
(We stayed here 20 + years ago with Sue & Jim & Betty & Billy.
(It was fall & the leaves were out in full color)
Not many colored leaves out yet.

52° - with my knee & leg really hurting.  Sun up about 7 AM – beautiful day.  65° at 9:30 AM.
