Subject: Lost Track
I've lost track of what we were writing about. Odds and ends are
piling up on me to worry about. I thought I was "home free" about
my Alabama Bar application, at least once I arranged to have a
transcript sent. Today though I found out from a friend that she
just now got her reference form for me. The Bar has to clear you
from many angles, school, finances, criminal etc., even driving tickets,
as well as references. Its not automatic. Anyway, I was
hoping everything had checked out and that I would be getting my
approval letter soon, but I guess I still don't know. Then, of
course, I've got that most likely failing grade nagging at the back of
my mind. Saturday I noticed my car was making a "different"
sound, so I've got to worry about that, esp. in the framework that
either Thurs. or Friday I have to be at the law school, and have no way
to get around if my car is in the shop. I asked the man in the mailroom
to recommend a place, which he did. I really don't have many
people I can ask to cart me around, as everybody is so busy themselves,
so I've got to worry about that. I tried to get my bed situation
straightened out, as I had thrown out my futon some time back. I
bought an air bed at Sears, but after several hours of using the manual
pump to get it pumped up, I still did not succeed in getting it more
than half inflated. I have no way of knowing if the pump is
defective or if it just takes a long time to pump up. Its a queen
size bed. There are other ways to pump it up, but I don't have the
means (a hair dryer which blows cool, which mine don't, etc.) A friend
of mine at law school is bothering me too. I don't know whether to
confront her or not. It just seems to me that she is being
withholding with me about study materials, or not sharing information
she has, and possibly "lying" to me when I ask her about stuff.
Its hard to explain. I guess my expectation is that if she came
upon backlogs of questions to help her study that she would share them
with me, or at least let me know they exist. I can't figure out if
she is just being competitive or what, but I think several times she's
kind of lied to me about study materials.
Several times I have made a vow to NOT call her, but otherwise she seems
friendly when I call, or when she calls me. I did rent a few
videos last week--I really like the five day rental plan which the
stores here have started. I got
Videodrome, which
is an old sci fi movie I read about in a review of a movie which just
came out. Then I got
Angels and
Insects and the movie
People vs. Larry Flynt which I missed at the theatre, but my law
school professor recommended. It is the only one I've watched and
it was quite good. Well, just nagging stuff. I've got to
sort through my plans for the new school term--two courses or
three--dropping a course on Thurs. or Friday if I only take two, to
avoid a steep drop penalty next week. What to do about my car and
still get to work, etc. Hope you are okay.
