It was really hot here this past weekend. Julie I and went for a
bike ride along the C&O Canal which was quite hot. It wasn't too
bad if we kept moving but when we stopped it got hot really quick.
Didn't do much else, mostly stayed inside and played a new computer game
I got last week. Julie father has a friend that is blind and her
father said he was interested in getting a computer and he asked me if I
knew anything about it. I knew there were voice programs that read
screens but not much else. As it turns out my yoga instructor does
computer programming for a living and she works on programs for blind
people. Her boss is blind had he does programming in C which is
one of the harder languages to use. I asked her about what can be done
and what programs to use and she has suggested several so I've been
checking that out. It would be interesting to set that up for
Julie's father's friend. Julie and I went to the Unitarian Church
here in Reston several times and found it quite interesting.
Although the have a regular type of service they often have other
unusual services. We went to one that had all music, not only
singing but drums, electric guitar, etc. Julie still occasional
goes but I haven't been since last year. Next week I have the ATF
people from Cincinnati coming here on Wednesday and then I'm supposed to
go to the USDA in Austin for Thursday and Friday so I'm quite busy this
week getting everything ready. Still don't have any plans for the
4th weekend, probably will just hang around the house. Well back
to work. Larry
Although Julie had signed up for the current yoga session, she wasn’t going to class regularly while I liked it so much, I seldom missed a class. We were taking a yoga level 2 class at the time with a woman named Susan who taught several yoga classes a week at the Health Advantage Yoga Center (HAYC). Susan had a full-time job as a computer programmer. I really liked Susan as a yoga teacher because she was very logical with her teaching method, something I liked. At the end of each class Susan would tell a short story based on her life and experiences and would tie them into some yoga philosophy. It was from her end of class stories that she told of her programming experiences and her blind boss. After Julie’s father’s asked about computers for his blind friend, I approached Susan after class one day asking about software for blind people.
