Right. A bummer. Maybe there will be a turn around when
things reach the really critical last chance point. Enjoy your
trip. I'll mostly be studying for finals. My only "news" is
my law professor and I started corresponding via e-mail. I had
written him twice last semester and he never answered. I wrote
again a few weeks ago--all class related stuff--and he didn't answer,
but then I saw him one day and said, "Hey did you get my e-mail."
I speculated that with over 150 students maybe he didn't know who had
sent it--i.e. didn't have a face to attach to the e-mail. I had
only presumed he knew my name. So we talked and then I wrote
another e-mail the next day, and to that one he responded. We sort
of got into a discussion about pedagogy, etc. Most of the students
really dislike him, probably for the same reasons I find him
interesting. I'm in need of a mentor relationship so when he wrote
back I was quite pleased. I basically wanted to know about
possible niches for myself in law. I don't imagine we will "write"
regularly, but I'm glad he seemed willing to be a mentor or sorts, at
least for a few exchanges. I think if he were older I might allow
myself more real interest, but as best I can figure he may be at the
most 40, maybe not even that. Also, he has an enormous what I call
Alabama belly, which so many men here do. Its one smooth curve.
What do I like about him? I think its a cerebral thing, but also
I've been lonely a great deal since moving here, away from a college
milieu. Well--I'm sorry about your situation. I can't even
imagine trying to start a brand new relationship with someone at my age.
I almost don't have the energy. Elizabeth
P.S. Keep me posted on the courts projects. You will not believe
how much the courts positions pay--here they are among the highest
paying jobs around--some 90,000+.
