Subject: Re: Time off
I don't know what I'm doing for the "break." Last final is Friday
night.
Sierra Club is at the beach, but now I'm not in the mood. Had a
minor screw up with my paycheck and I'm shorter on immediate cash for
the rest of this week and the next than I expected, until next pay day,
which is the 17th. I do have enough for some videos and movies though. I
do want to go see GREEN MILE and also DOGMA. Unfortunately Star
Wars is leaving TODAY, and I did not get to see it. I thought it
would stay longer and I could catch it after finals. In that
context, do you believe that Sixth Sense is STILL HERE. I always
"want" to go to one of the parks for the break, but then the roads
always start to ice. That is where I thought I'd meet you, if you
wanted to drive somewhat South, while I drove somewhat North, although
you'd have further. If you go to Dothan, Dothan isn't too bad.
They have one of those special theatres--I forgot what they are
called--not the IMAX, but some type of theatre FOR WHICH the Star Wars
movie was especially designed.
Some advanced Dolby system maybe. We have Dolby here, but not this
special kind. Some people from here went to Dothan to see Star
Wars there. Also, they have a neat little art museum, The
Wiregrass. Dothan is a neat little town, with a university, etc.
Overall, it might not be a bad place to live.
I rushed to the univ. library just before it closed to get books.
I think I told you. I had seen a dollar book on "home carpentry
projects" on a sale table they have of donated books. I left it there,
then changed my mind and bought it. I certainly have a "yen" to do
such things, so your headboard project sounds interesting. It
would be neat to design it exactly the way you wanted it. Dothan
is maybe two hours from here, if you came down. But, I don't know
if by then I might be in Tuscaloosa, which is further, adding another
hour and a half. I had a friend who stayed with me when she came
to visit her relative in Dothan in a nursing home. She went up and
back in one day. I just don't know about going back to Univ. of
AL., even if they accepted me as a transfer student. I think I'd
have about a year there.
I'm really getting in a mood to have a piece of land or something, even
if I had to live in a trailer. This STUPID man in the apt complex,
who is unfortunately the new landlady's son, got a chain saw and began
hacking down these lovely bushes and things we have around the
apartment. I was infuriated. Now it looks ugly. They
have no class. They put out Christmas lights and they still have
out their halloween pumpkins. They are real rednecks. Just
makes me want a change, but I don't know what and/or how to afford it.
I need to finish my law degree whether here, there or yonder.
Well, I'm stalling rather than study TAX. I can't wait until Fri.
night at 9:30. I want to clean up my apt. One of my favorite
movies of all time, The Day the Earth Stood Still is on t.v. Sat.
Plus, I have a book waiting for me at the bookstore. It is about
this group who tried to clone Jesus from the Shroud of Turin, using DNA,
in some scheme or other. Elizabeth
