Subject: Re: DVDs
Thanks for answering. This is a draggy day and ANY communication
is welcome. I doubt my t.v. has that, as it is older than my VCR.
I noticed the prices fairly low on the DVDs, often with a large number
of free rentals thrown in from Blockbuster, etc. Someone I know at law
school bought a CD player that holds an enormous number of CDs.
She said they loaded their whole collection. I didn't think about
the record aspect at all. I don't know--part of me just can't get
into anything right now. Something will catch my eye, but my
interest doesn't hold up. What I'd really like is to be able to
record all my records--which I still have--onto CDs. That
interests me. The library used book store in Tuscaloosa, both from
donations and its own collection, discarded/sold a huge collection of
records, for 25 cents. Some of them were never played. Even
though the technology was "out" I bought a large number. I still
have a very old and cheap turntable. You can still get
turntables--I've even seen them advertised here. All my
"electronics" are so old. I'm in this place of not wanting more
"things" but the things I have are becoming increasingly dated.
I have a sort of plan to eliminate things and replace with really high
quality, whether its clothes, dishes or electronics, etc., but--I think
I need to get this law school thing settled first. More and more I
don't want clutter, "stuff" or particularly junk. I'm really back
to a Zen mode. The law school just this term has put the grades
onto an "intranet" which can be accessed by computer. I keep
checking, but for one of my grades it is way to early to even expect
it--three or four weeks into January will be more like it--but for Tax,
I keep thinking it will be up sooner, as it was multiple choice in
machine gradable format. Elizabeth
I actually started converting some of my old records to CD’s then gave up as I no longer played CDs having loaded my entire CD collection on to my phone. I still converted a few select records to digital and put them on my phone with my other music but it is a slow process to convert them. Although I hate to buy something twice, I have bought digital versions of some records. I still have over 800 records and on occasion still listen to them.
