Elizabeth,
Yes I keep my old journals. I don't write as much as I did but I
keep one by the bed for when I do and sometimes journal on the computer.
I don't worry about what becomes of it all if something happens to me,
like I sure won't care if I'm dead. But I'm a keeper, having kept
things from early childhood, some of which I've posted on my website.
You, on the other hand, seem to always getting rid of things. I'm
not being critical, just an observation. I don't think too much
about "if something happens to me". My grandmother lived to be 103
and my dad turned 81 this year and is in great health. I expect to
be around for another god 30-40 years. :)
I still keep all my old records, your right the album covers are great.
Someday they may be worth something. A few which I really liked I
have bought CD's for and I've downloaded a lot of individual songs for
my iPod. The iPod is great, I have loaded my entire CD collection
on it so I seldom play CDs. The iPod plugs into the home stereo as
well as to my car radio so I can listen to anything in my collection
without having to mess with the CDs. I also check out books on CD
from the Library and put them on my iPod to listen to on trips or at
work when it's slow.
I know what you mean about seeing the US. There is much of it I
have not see including the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone. I like
traveling to more exotic places now, while I have the health and money.
There is always so much to see, it would be nice to have the time and
money to do so.
Have a good New Year.
Larry
Elizabeth is the only one I ever let read my
early journals. I never “let” or gave them to my wife of 20 years to
read although they were on the bookcase in my study for most of
those years and she could have read them any time. Excerpts of my
early journals can be found in my Deeply Rooted story, “On My Own”
and “A New Start” sections.
It was the greatest thing to have all my CD’s on my iPod but I only
converted a couple dozen of my old LP records and then finally gave
up. I still have my record collection and still occasionally
listen to them (yes I still have a turntable). A few years later
the iPhone came out and I transferred all the music from my iPad to
my iPhone which I still listen to today but more and more I stream
music from online sources. Interesting how technology has changed
how we listen to music.
