The burned up motor home
Just two weeks after returning from their trip to Michigan, on August 15th Mom and Dad’s Itaska motor home burned up while parked next to their house under a roof they had built for it. It happened one night after Mom and Dad had gone to bed. Fortunately, a neighbor saw the fire and called the fire department which arrived quickly as it is only two blocks from where they lived. Even so, by the time they got there and put out the fire the motor home was completely burned up inside and was so hot it melted the autumn roof over it. Mom and Dad said they felt blessed that someone saw it as soon as they did for the fire would have soon spread to their house.

Lossing the motor home actually turned out to be a good thing when after receiving the insurance check in September, Mom and Dad bought a used 1984 Pace Arrow motor home which Mom described as, “It was the best motor home we've had so far.” For their first trip in it they went to Fort Tatum campground in North Carolina.
