December

December 1st, 2000 was Mom and Dad’s 50th wedding anniversary which many of the family gathered for but with my new job at AOL I didn’t go down to Florida for it. I found it admirable that they had been married 50 years.

In December I had my first performance review at AOL and got a “Solid Performance” rating and a 4% raise.

My birthday arrived as it does every year on the winter solstice and it was more depressing than usual.  Christmas came three days later with me spending it home alone. Work at AOL was really slow the week between Christmas and New Years.  I went into work a couple partial days but the place was mostly empty with many employees taking off so I “worked from home” most of the week.  On New Year’s Eve I managed make it to midnight after finishing off a bottle of champagne.
