Research Years

John had several folders with photocopies of old wills, some going back to early 1800’s.  One of the earliest wills was for Naomi Mixon, wife of Elijah Mixon#9, born 1740 and died 1816.  Elija is one of the earliest Mixons in John’s book with reference #9.

1961 John was accepted into the National Genealogical Society.[f03-d14]

In January of 1965 John received two letters from the H. Prentice Miller, the Dean of Alumni at Emory University, which John is an alumnus, in which Mr. Miller provided information on other Mixson alumni of Emory going back to 1845.[f29-d28,29]

In August of ’65 John received a letter from Josephine C. Mixon which included a page which listed:[f29-d34]

“John Mixon” a headright to Virginia, year 1650, from England (under Capt. Fauntleroy)
