John Leslie Mixson, son of William Thomas and Coral Fuller Mixson, was b. in Coffee County, AL, April 2, 1897, d. Dec 1, 1988. A country banker (retired June 30, 1965) with 45 years' service, last 18 years of which was with Bank of Dadeville, AL, as Executive Vice President and a Director. He was Custodian Tallapoosa County School Funds, 1950-1965; Custodian Coffee County School Funds, 1926-28. Listed in some previous editions of "Who's Who in the South and Southwest." Graduate of Henry County High School at Headland, 1916, attended Emory College, 1917 -18, U, of AL, 1919. With U. S. Navy in World War I.

On April 23, 1928, he m. Anne Grace Swanson, b. Feb. 22, 1902, d. Nov 1993, dau, of Herschel V. Swanson (named for a great uncle, Herschel V. Johnson, one time governor of Georgia, U.S. Senator, and a vice-presidential candidate in 1860), and his wife, Emma DeFee, descendant of a French Huguenot family who had first settled in South Carolina, later moving to Union Springs. Mrs. Mixson retired as a classroom teacher after 33 years service in the public schools of Alabama in 1965, and is a graduate of Troy State University. John did extensive research into the Mixon-Mixson genealogy, writing three volumes. See The Publishing of the Mixon-Mixson Family Books.

Jan 19, 2006.  Home, Columbus, GA  and they live in Columbus, Ga., where they are members of the First Presbyterian Church. Grace is an active member of the "Women of the Church" (was its treasurer, 1972-1974). Was named Church Historian for 1970-1972. A volunteer worker for the American Cancer Society, Columbus Unit, is a member of it's Board of Directors and has been Regional Auditor since 1970. In 1964 she was named the "Volunteer of the Year. " She is a member of the Springer Opera House Guild, 1971-1972, is co-chairman of the box Office committee.They have no children, but are sponsoring a young girl, June Karen Sanders, at Presbyterian Children's Home, Clinton, SC

Dwight Layman Mixson, son of William Thomas and Coral Fuller Mixson, was b. in Coffee County, AL, May 30, 1899,  d. 1973, bur. Serenity Gardens, Milton, FL . (B.B.A., U. of AL, 1923), d. Dec 1, 1973. He has made a career with Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Co., retiring May 30, 1964 at the Birmingham, AL office. He had served as Local Manager for the company at Opelika, Decatur, AL, and at Tuscaloosa.

At the age of 13, he went to Kirbyville, Texas and lived a year with his uncle, Charles A. Mixson and wife, being legally adopted by them while there. On Nov. 28, 1930, he m. Katherine Killibrew, b. 1908, d. 1982, bur. Serenity Gardens, Milton, FL , dau. of William B. and Maude Edwards Killibrew, a well known southeast Alabama family who had moved to Port Arthur, Texas from Enterprise, Alabama, at New Orleans, LA

Dwight Leslie Mixson, son of John L. and Grace Swanson Mixson was b. at Union Springs, AL, Sept. 22, 1930, d. Dec 15, 2012. (B.S., Bus. Adm., Auburn, 1952. Married Ruth Elizabeth McAllister, dau. of William Arthur and Ethel Holcombe McAllister of Montgomery, AL, Jan. 24, 1954. He was the store manager for Sears at Sylacauga, Alabama, since March 1969, was ordained to the deaconship of the First Baptist Church at the Sunday Evening Worship Service, January 2, 1972. Dwight is the son of John L. & Grace S. Mixson of Dadeville, Alabama, and is a recent past president of Sylacauga's Exchange Club. He is listed in the 1971 edition of "Community Leaders of America.  Both bur. Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Sylacuga, Talladega County, AL.  Children:
