He went to East TX in his young manhood, and engaged in logging and sawmilling. However, he soon joined his older brother, James M. Mixson of Kirbyville in a mercantile business, opening a store at Buna with him in charge, the name of the firm being Mixson Bros. About, 1895, he m. Lorena McKinnon, b. Jun 21, 1875, d. Apr 28, 1962 who was a sister to his brother’s wife.  Both bur. Kirbyville City Cemetery, Kirbyville, Jasper County, TX.
