William Daniel Mixson, physician, son of John E. and Elmira Cole Mixson, was b. in Coffee County, AL, Apr 18, 1870, d. at his home in Waycross, GA, Jun 2, 1960, bur. Old Tabernacle Cemetery, New Brockton, Coffee County, AL. (M.D., Chattanooga Medical College, 1399). He did general practice in Dale and Coffee County for twenty years, the last five years of which was at Midland City. He served for a few months as an officer in the U.S. Medical Corps in World War I, after which he took special courses at Tulane in New Orleans on eye, ear, nose, and throat, and later at Manhattan (N.Y.) Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic and Malatien Seminary in N.Y. He retired in 1939 after twenty years' practice in Waycross, GA, where he had distinguished himself in his profession, and was widely known in that part of the state.
On Jun 1, 1899, he m. Pearl Loreta Fuller - b. Feb 2, 1878, d. Jun 10, 1969, bur. Old Tabernacle Cemetery, New Brockton, Coffee County, AL, dau. of Robert A. and Walker P. Danielly Fuller. She was a sister to Coral Fuller, wife of William T. Mixson, a cousin to Dr. Mixson. When William T. Mixson died in 1905, Dr. and Mrs. Mixson took the widow and tier children under their wings until the children reached maturity. They had no children, but have been a great help, not only to their own people, but to their community as well, always supporting education and the progress for the good of their fellow man.
Pearl L. Fuller Mixson, widow of William D, Mixson, physician, died Jun 10, 1969 in the South East AL, General Hospital at Dothan, buried Jun 11, 1969 - by the remains of her husband in Old Tabernacle cemetery. She had passed her 91st birthday (Feb 2, 1878).
