John Mixon, son of James and Polly Mixon, was b. in Beaufort County, NC, ca. 1798, date and place of death unknown. Two John Mixons are shown in the 1830 census of Beaufort, one is John, the son of James, the other is John, the son of John and Mary Mixon. John, the son of James and Polly, it appears, had married about 1816 and had two small children in the 1820-census. Another census shows him with several children, but one of the old letters already referred to states he had lost all but three of his children. A later census indicates these children with him and are the survivors: Children:

David Mixon, son of James and Polly Mixon, was b. in Beaufort County, NC, ca. 1805, d. Feb 2, 1859. He had m. before Apr 18, 1833 to Sarah (Sally) Watson, b. abt. 1813.

Residence Beaufort County NC; 22 years old. Enlisted on 6/25/1861 at Beaufort County, NC as a Private, he mustered into "I" Co. NC 4th Infantry. He died of typhoid fever.

James Mixon, son of James and Polly Mixon, was b. in Beaufort County, NC, ca. 1809. In August, 1826, he was bound out (at age 17) to Thomas Bragg to learn the trade of tailor.
