William Woodham Mixon, s. of Jehu and Fereby Woodham Mixon, was b. in Darlington District, SC, Dec 3, 1826, d. in Conecuh County, AL May 17, 1912, bur. Bay Minette Cemetery, Bay Minette, AL he m. Mahala Higdon.  He was in the Civil War. At the time of the war he was married and had a young son. He fought at the Battle of Blakeley and when it was over walked all the way home.  He and his family lost everything during the war. When he returned home his wife Mahala Higdon shortly after.
