John Nelson Mixon, s. of Nelson and Elizabeth McCall Mixon, was b. in Conecuh County, AL, Jan 21, 1845, d. Dec 8, 1911. A Confederate soldier with Co. "D",16th AL Inf., he was severely wounded at the Battle of Shiloh, 1863 and discharged. The wound caused him to limp the rest of his life. In Dec, 1866, he m. Josephine L. Wright - b. Oct 5, 1844, d. Mar 27, 1927 at Peterman, AL  Both bur. Rumbley Cemetery, Monroeville, AL.
