John McLaughlin Mixon, s. of John Ira and Fanny C. McLaughlin Mixon, was b. in Perry County, MS, Nov 12, 1898, d. Dec 13, 1965. He was a veteran of World War I and World War II. Educated at Runnellston Schools and Mississippi State Teachers College (1922), was one time associated with Lindsey Wagon Company of Larel, MS, and in Jun 1922, he m. Velma Jewel Hill.

Earl Raymond Mixon, s. of John Ira and Fanny C. McLaughlin Mixon, was b. in Perry County, MS, Dec 28, 1900, d. May 25, 1969, bur. Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Denver County, CO. A high school graduate, he took special courses for two and a half years at Ohio University, and from 1920 has made the U.S. Army a career, retiring in 1951 with the rank of Major. He m. (1) Jewel Sallin of Camdenton, MO Children:

Walter Henry Mixon, s. of Henry H. and Mary D. Stewart Mixon, was b. in Perry County, MS, Jan 21, 1893, d. Jul 8, 1970 Jones Co., MS. He m. Dollie Windham b. Mar 4, 1892 Jones Co., MS, d. Nov 21, 1956 Jones Co. Both bur. Rushton Cemetery, Laurel, Jones County, MS.

 

Information from Walter’s dau. Mrs. Jewell Bryan: Walter Mixon lived with his maternal grandparents, Elliot Stewart, in Jones County. He went to World War I, and stayed with his grandparents again when he returned. He continued to live with his grandfather Stewart after he married Dollie Elizabeth Windham in 1919 until after the first daughter, Jewell, was born.

 

Mr. Mixon farmed in Jones County until December 21, 1942, when he worked in Refinishing at Masonite Corporation at Laurel, Mississippi, until he retired March 1958.

 

In 1944 he bought the farm near Boguehoma where he spent his remaining years. He and his wife are buried at Rustin Cemetery off Highway 84 near Laurel, Mississippi.
