He was raised by his grandparents, James R. and Rebecca Mixson, and is shown with them in the 1880 census of Hampton County, SC He died May 5, 1948, bur. in Sand Hill Cemetery near Varnville. About 1891 he m. Georgianna Anderson, b. May 7, 1871, in Hampton County, d. Jan 23, 1951, bur. Sand Hill Cemetery, Varnville, SC. She was dau. of Ephraim and Pean Horton Anderson.

4583 Miles Benjamin “Bennie” Mixson - b.  Jun 21, 1911 in Hampton County, SC, d. Nov 30, 2004.  A man with a remarkable memory, he recalls to mind a good many things concerning his particular ancestral line. His ancestor, Robert Mixson, had married three times, so he says, raised three families of children, totaling twenty five in all. There was only one child, girl by his Last wile. His second wife was a girl only twelve years old that lived in Georgia. She was so young that Georgia authorities would not marry them. She ran away with him to his home in Beaufort County, SC and they were married there. One Robert Mixson and family are listed in Wilkinson County, GA, in 1820 census. Mr. Mixson stated further that his ancestor Robert Mixson was known in Georgia by the name of Michael Mixson, On October l’st, 1941, Miles Benjamin Mixson, married Allie Walsh, b. Aug 16, 1919 in Jasper County, SC, d. Nov 27, 2013, dau. of Edward F. and Luca Freeman Walsh. They lived in Hampton County, near Varnville, and are members of the Sand Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Mixson is employed by the State of South Carolina.  Both bur Sand Hill Cemetery, Varnville, SC.

On this same trip, another party told Prof. Mixon about Robert Mixson, during  his lifetime, asking his local preacher to read the Bible to him in the rear of a local store.

Susan Louise Peeples (see #5528) at the home of her parents, Elizabeth Emma Peeples. Susan was b. Jul 2, 1873, d. Sep 14, 1977.  Both bur. Sand Hill Cemetery, Varnville, SC.
