Anthony Windham Mixon, s. of James Jehu Mixon and wife, Mary Jane Mixon, was b. in Sumter County, SC, Nov 14, 1826 (could have been b. in Darlington District), d. Jun 29, 1878 in Franklin Parish, LA He was a grandson of Samuel Mixon, a Revolutionary soldier. Mr. Mixon was a Confederate soldier, enlisting at Elba, AL, Sep 25, 1863 and was assigned to Capt. John C. Brown's Company of Cavalry, a local defense unit. He migrated from his home in SC to Georgia where he met and married Sarah Catherine Gibson, b. Oct 26, 1834, d. Jun 21, 1920, and they lived in the Milledgeville area. Shown in the 1870 census of Autauga County in the 1870 census, they moved to Franklin Parish, LA Their first child was b. in GA, all others in AL. Sarah bur. Old Mixon Cemetery, Franklin Parish, LA
