Samuel Western Mixon, s. of Aris and Susannah Truett Mixon, was b. in Darlington District, SC in 1824, d. 1864. About 1855, he m. Mary Elizabeth Culbreth. Mr. Mixon was a Confederate soldier, contracted measles in 1864 and died. After his death, the widow m. William Dave Skipper, b. May 23, 1843, d. Feb 17, 1930. She d. Sep 3, 1913, bur. Big Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery, Dothan, Houston County, AL. No children by her last marriage. She and Mr. Mixon had the following children.

He was a Confederate soldier and attached to Co. "E" 5th Bn. FL Cavalry. In 1869 he m. Caroline (Callie) Jones of Blakely, GA, b. May 13, 1850, d. Jan 23, 1918, bur. Dean Church Cemetery, Dale City, AL.
