George G. Mixon, s. of William and Mary Mixon, was b. 1840 d. Feb 10, 1914, m. Feb 7, 1865 to Amanda Powell, b. Oct 29, 1842, d. Sep 5, 1927, widow of John Bird who lost his life in the Civil War. Amanda was the dau. of Lanier Powell and his wife and was a granddaughter of Sampson Powell and wife of Johnson County, GA She had ''we daughters by first marriage - Cecilia Bird, m. Lee Price; Millie Bird, m. Ricey Price.  Both bur. Oaky Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Wrightsville, GA

Richard M.C. Mixon was a private in Company "F", 14th Regiment, Georgia Infantry and volunteered in Johnson County, GA, Jul 11, 1861. He was wounded at Fredericksburg, Va., Dec 13, 1862, Absent without leave Feb 28, 1865, and paroled at Augusta, GA on May 2, 1865.

 

Richard and Julia Ann Mixon are buried at Oakey Grove Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Johnson County, GA
