Simeon Penn Mixson, s. of William and Mary Eleanor Joyce Mixon was b, in SC, Feb.2, 1809, had moved with his parents to the "Mobile District", Mississippi Territory, in his early days. Died at Bruceville, TX, Mar. 13, 1864.

Related to the John Mixson family in Dallas County, it was probably there he met -:is future wife, Margaret O. Campbell - b. Sept. 15, 1816, d. June23, 1855. She was the dau. of William and Mary Campbell, residents of Dallas County, AL, e later outliving her husband by several years. Mrs. Campbell made some deeds gifts to her children before her death -- one of which was to her daughter Margaret, wife of Simeon Mixson, residents of Texas, Aug.21, 1839, to some skives. The 1850 census of Texas shows the Mixsons in Milam County, the 1860 census in McClenrnan County.

Simeon Mixson was a member of the Texas Rangers, discharged from same in Sept., 1837. A certified copy of this is now in hands of one of his descendants.

 

After Mr. Mixson's death, his widow married J. F. Mayfield, Feb.28, 1868.

Thadeous Cambell Mixson, s. of Simeon and Margaret Campbell Mixson, was b. in Miss., Nov. 21, 1832, d. Aug.23, 1875 near Waco, TX, bur. Cox Cemetery, Bruceville, TX.  On Jan. 12, 1866, he m. Mozella (Millie) Barron - b. Jan. 7, 1850, d. Nov. 12, 1922, bur. Cox Cemetery, Bruceville, TX , dau. of Capt. Thomas Hudson and Mary Shelton Barron. She was the first white child born in Waco. She died in 1922. Their children:
