Our anniversary today and I cleaned house & did the ironing, and Morris went to work tonight. Guess what! When he came home tonight he bought me box of cany! I gave him a pair of slippers.

Friday, December 4, 1959

Well Susie went to her grandmother’s today to stay for a couple of weeks. Went by mothers to get the check & stayed there for almost an hour, so & didn’t get much done uptown. Bought groceries & took the boys to get a hair cut & then over to Johnny’s for his Birthday party.

Saturday, December 5, 1959

Brenda went to a birthday party this morning and the boys & I went to get the record player fixed & then out to the shopping center.

Sunday, December 6, 1959

We all went to S.S. this morning but came home because Larry felt so sick. We stayed home all day then Larry can’t eat a thing except soup. Guess I’ll take him to the Dr. tomorrow. Real cold today.

Monday, December 7, 1959

Washed & bow was it cold hanging it up!  Went to Sunbeams this afternoon & also took Larry to the Doctor. Said it was an infection of the mouth.

Larry stayed home again today, but he’s better.

Larry went back to school today. Cleaned up the house some & finished my ironing.

Thursday, December 10, 1959

Cleaned house good today and Brenda’s teacher visited me this afternoon. Found out that she graduated in 1955 from Weirsdale & knows almost everyone I do from there. Went to our S.S. Banquet tonight at the Park Lane Cafeteria. Mom kept the kids. Had a good time.

Did most of my Xmas shopping today. Went to the show tonight with Agnes & Melba.

Had our Xmas program at our church tonight. All 3 kids were in it. Afterwards they had parties in each of their rooms.

Last day of school for the kids. Bought groceries today and we all bought our tree tonight & trimmed it. Had lots of fun.

Had Larry’s Birthday party this afternoon at 3 o’clock. Had 7 boys present. He got a real watch from his grandmother Junior and he’s so proud of it!

Larry’s Birthday

Ironed today and baked 3 batches of cookies, 3 batches of fudge, & made an Ice Box fruitcake. Also helped Brenda to make cards with cookies inside for 16 of her friends. Took me all afternoon until 8 o’clock tonight. It is really Larry’s Birthday today.

Finished wrapping our gifts today, change bed cloths all over the house, bought groceries, took the kids to the shopping center to let them buy their Xmas presents. Went out to Mixsons late this afternoon & they weren’t home so we went by Betty & Billys & ate supper with them & then over to Mixsons again. They were home. They’re spending Xmas day with Adrian & Dotty.

Thursday, December 24, 1959

Cleaned house, washed & did everything else today. Carol, Bob, Dixie & Danah, & Vandy didn’t get here until 8 o’clock tonight. Mom, Dad, Cory & Gary came over too for Xmas eave supper here. Didn’t get to bed until One o’clock. Bill couldn’t come because his father go real sick again Wed. night.

Opening Christmas presents on our front porch. David with new cub scout uniform, me sitting behind him, Brenda helping Dana opening present, Bob helping baby Vandy opening present.  David's and my new train set is laid out on floor.

Kids had us up at 7:30 to see what Santa bought them. They all were tickled over everything they got. Carol & Bob & Babies spent the night here so Danah & Vanda opened their presents too. Bill’s father died this morning so it spoiled Dixie’s Xmas. Sue, Jimmy & Danny got here about 11. We all ate over at Mom’s. Mom & Dad took Dixie to Alabama this afternoon.

Saturday, December 26, 1959

Slept quite late this morning, but got up & cleaned the house. Boys have their electric train in their room, so I can hardly get in there. Carol & Bob spent the night over at Mom’s to keep Corky & Gary. They came over for lunch & the men went bowling this afternoon. Fixed supper for all of us & Carol & Bob left about 9 o’clock. Mom & Dad got home from Ala. About then too.

 Jan. 16, 1960 – My Birthday

Had mom, Dad, Corky, Donald & Irene & boys over for supper & my uncle Bob (whose birthday is today also) called me tonight all the way from Michigan! How about that! Just to say Happy Birthday! Beautiful today about 76° out.
