Remembering by
Barbara Junior Mixson
1979
W e sold the motor home and bought a customized Dodge maxi van to go
camping in. Betty and Billy bought one too and they too joined the Happy
Sams. We did a lot of weekend camping.
March 21st. We took Kristi with us to Charlotte for Beth's l8th birthday.
Late spring Brenda and Tom brought their youth group to Disney World.
We went to Disney World and took Grandma Mixson with us. In June we
went to Charlotte for Beth's graduation from High School. Then we took
her and Kristopher on a camping trip up on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Brenda
was waiting for the birth of Jeremy Scott who was born on July 4th.
We came on home before he was born but went back on July 14. Morris
and I took a camping trip up on the Parkway from the 14th-30th. We spent
$760. We camped at Mt. Pisgah, Linville Falls, Peaks of Otter, Rocky
Knob and ended back up in Charlotte. We brought Brenda, Beth, Kristopher
and baby Jeremy back to Gainesville with us. Tom came down the next
week. Beth started school at Santa Fe Community College. Dixie got her
a student assistant job at the college.
September 20 Morris's brother Adrian Mixson died of cancer. About this
time Larry moved to Melbourne, Fl.
He took a full time job with Harris Corporation. He lived in an apartment
for awhile then he bought a house. Sue and Jim also were living in Melbourne
at this time, where Jim was manager of Belk Lindsey.
Brenda and Tom surprised us with the news they felt the call to foreign
missions. After awhile they told us they would be going to Austria.
They sold their house in Charlotte and came to Florida for awhile before
they left.
